CPWR is proud to be an organizing partner in OSHA’S Safe + Sound Campaign – a nationwide effort to raise awareness of the value of workplace safety and health programs. These programs can help employers and workers identify and manage workplace hazards before they cause injury or illness, improving a company’s financial bottom line. Anyone can participate in the Campaign by initiating, improving, or simply drawing attention to their workplace safety and health program. As part of the campaign, organizations are encouraged to host events and activities that showcase the core elements of any effective safety and health program, including: management leadership, worker participation, and finding and fixing workplace hazards. If you’re looking for ways to create a safety and health program in your workplace, or to update an existing program, CPWR has a variety of useful resources:
- The Foundations for Safety Leadership program (FSL) is an OSHA-30 approved training module that provides construction foremen and other lead workers with the skills and information they need to become effective safety leaders who are able create a strong jobsite safety climate. - Our newest tool, the Safety Climate-Safety Management Information System (SC-SMIS), builds on and expands our safety climate work. With the SC-SMIS, account holders can use CPWR’s reliable and valid Safety Climate Assessment Tool (S-CAT) to measure their company’s safety climate maturity, or they can get a snapshot of the safety management activities they’re currently using to strengthen safety climate with the Safety Climate Assessment Tool for Small Contractors (S-CATsc). After employees complete the S-CAT or S-CATsc, the company can review the scores; use that information to select from a large repository of evidence-based safety management resources that are specifically designed to improve low-scoring indicators; and then develop a plan to help put those resources into action.

- According to OSHA, a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards is a proactive, ongoing process to identify and control sources of potential injuries or illnesses. This means establishing procedures to collect and review information about known or potential hazards in the workplace, investigating the root cause of those hazards, and prioritizing hazard controls.
