Construction workers often encounter harmful substances on the job site, including asbestos, lead, and respirable crystalline silica. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) enforces workplace standards to reduce exposure to these hazards.
This dashboard examines OSHA citations issued to employers in the construction industry for violations of federal standards related to asbestos (CFR 1910.1001 or CFR 1926.1101), lead (CFR 1910.1025 or CFR 1926.62), or silica (CFR 1910.1053 or CFR 1926.1153). Violations of state regulations are not included in this dashboard. Publicly available data were from the OSHA Integrated Management System (IMIS) provided by the federal or state office in the geographical area where the activity occurred.
Dashboard instructions and information on filters, charts, and definitions are included in the information icon located to the right of the dashboard title.
You can download the data as a spreadsheet. Each worksheet’s name is based on the corresponding dashboard chart.
The dashboard will be updated annually when new data are available, with the next update scheduled for Summer 2023. If you have questions or comments, please email [email protected].
