Falls, Slips, and Trips in Construction

Falls, slips, and trips are one of the leading causes of construction injuries, accounting for over 20,000 nonfatal and 300 fatal injuries annually since 2013.

This dashboard examines these causes of injury by event and subsector. Data are from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI), Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII), and the Current Population Survey (CPS). CFOI and SOII data were downloaded from BLS, and CPS was downloaded from IPUMS.

Dashboard instructions and information on filters, charts, and definitions are included in the information icon Data Dashboard information icon located to the right of the dashboard title.

You can download the data as a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is color-coded for each set of charts, and each worksheet name is based on the corresponding dashboard chart.

The dashboard will be updated annually when new data is available, with the next update scheduled for Spring 2024. If you have questions or comments, please email [email protected].
