Fatal and Nonfatal Injuries by Industrial Country

Construction remains one of the most dangerous industries in the world. Although the United States continues to report the largest number of annual fatal and nonfatal construction occupational injuries in the industrial countries examined, others have higher injury rates. Construction occupational injury data in this dashboard was collected from the International Labour Organization statistics database . This data is collected from participating countries, with their own sources and reporting procedures, and these variations mean there are limitations in comparing injuries across countries. However, this data can still reveal potential global trends, as well as provide perspective for the U.S. construction industry.

This dashboard contains data on construction occupational injuries and rates from countries in North America, Europe, and Australia. The pie chart highlights the sources and reporting procedures of each participating country, while the other charts detail the number and rate of fatal and nonfatal construction injuries by country. The Field and Injury Type filter(s) update both the charts and the bold and underlined key findings.

Following the interactive dashboard, you will find more information on the data source, definitions, chart notes, a downloadable data file, and recommended citation. This interactive data dashboard corresponds to the relevant chapter in the PDF version of the Construction Chart Book, 7th edition.
