Health Insurance Coverage
Despite their hazardous working environment, construction workers are less likely to have health insurance coverage than U.S. workers in general. Many construction workers are not provided with employer-based health insurance, and without coverage, they face barriers to accessing healthcare, steep financial costs, and an increased risk of health problems.
This dashboard examines health insurance coverage trends within construction by year, establishment size, union status, and demographic for wage-and-salary workers. This dashboard includes one dashboard-level filter Year, a filter for the first two charts Type of Worker, and two chart-level filters including Characteristic and Demographic all of which update their respective charts and the bolded and underlined key findings.
Following the interactive dashboard, you will find more information on the data source, definitions, chart notes, a downloadable data file, and recommended citation. This interactive data dashboard corresponds to a chapter in the upcoming PDF version of the Construction Chart Book-7th edition, which will be published this summer. Data will be updated annually as available. If you have questions or comments, please email [email protected].
